BIOGRAPHY

Bernard Harris is a world-class bassist, music director, and worship leader known for his soulful sound, innovative style, and powerful musical ministry. While many bassists remain in the background, Harris brings the instrument to the forefront—blending rhythm, melody, and spirit into an unforgettable experience.

A naturally left-handed player, Harris developed his signature sound by learning to play a right-handed bass upside down. Rather than conforming, he embraced the uniqueness of his approach—creating a distinctive style that continues to captivate audiences worldwide.

His playing evokes the creativity of legends like Abe Laboriel and Stanley Clarke, yet remains uniquely his own—rich in expression, deeply musical, and spiritually impactful.

Bernard has toured extensively across the United States and internationally throughout Europe, Australia, Asia, Africa, and the Caribbean. He has shared the stage with renowned artists including Mandisa, TobyMac, Amy Grant, Aaron Neville, Phil Keaggy, and Tommy Emmanuel.

From 2006–2017, Harris served as Music Director and Bassist for Grammy Award-winning artist Mandisa, contributing to her acclaimed album Overcomer and appearing on major platforms such as Good Morning America. His performance credits also include national tours like Winter Jam, Hits Deep Tour, and The Road Show.

Beyond performance, Bernard’s mission is ministry. Whether on stage or in church, he uses music as a vehicle to inspire, uplift, and bring hope. His message is clear: there is always purpose beyond the music.
